Beacon is currently seeking an EAP Clinical Team Lead to join our team at our Cypress, CA office. This position will serveas a key Beacon interface with client companies, and is a peer leader for the EAP Counselor team. Supports the EAP Counselor team in managing complex cases and client specific requests. Coordinates with internal and external resources to meet the identified needs of clients and members. Conducts quality case audits, assist in training/mentoring of new hires, and contributes to development and implementation of departmental workflows/SOPs. Assists department leadership in the collection and reporting of performance guarantees. Attends departmental meetings, participates in inter-departmental workgroups and facilitates team meetings as needed. Performs core duties of the EAP Counselor, including providing guidance to client organizations, management of formal/mandatory referrals, coordination of disruptive event responses, training and other events impacting the workplace.The EAP Counselor works in a call center environment or remote telephonically.

What does a typical day look like?

  • Development and implementation of departmental workflows/SOP’s, including management of internal resources sites, such as department specific MS SharePoint sites.
  • Quarterly quality audits of EAP Counselor Team
  • Assists manager with Case Management Assignment Log and Team Queue Monitoring
  • Providing meeting updates and assisting the manager with facilitation of team meetings
  • Peer support/consultation
  • Assisting the manager with coordination of break, lunch and queue availability schedules
  • Assisting the manager with monitoring of CMS to ensure team is meeting SLA’s, taking calls as needed
  • Consultation to address issues at the employer’s worksite related to an employee or a group of employees; discussion between the Beacon On-site, experienced in delivering management consultative services, and a worksite representative involving a job performance or workplace issue.
  • Directive by the worksite for an employee to access EAP services, which may involve job jeopardy for failure to participate. An authorization to disclose PHI is obtained from the employee to facilitate dialogue with the worksite representative regarding participation with the EAP assessment process and cooperation with the recommended plan of action.
  • The EAP Counselor is responsible facilitating a full assessment of the employee, formulating a plan of action based upon outcome of the assessment, monitoring progress, and providing timely updates to the worksite representative
  • The EAP Counselor also facilitates appropriate assessment and care coordination of employees in positions that fall under regulatory guidelines, such as DOT and NRC.
  • Disruptive Event Management refers to targeted interventions intended to assist individuals, groups and organizations either directly or indirectly impacted by a traumatic event. The EAP Counselor’s role is to provide consultation to worksite representative regarding the type and quantity of intervention to address the needs of workforce because of the Disruptive Event. The EAP Counselor provides CIR / DEM services directly to the worksite and impacted employees through employee group and individual interventions, or may coordinate with a vendor partner or outside affiliate as needed.
  • Tracking of quality concerns related to providers and vendors
  • Ensures continuity of patient care through contact with providers as needed.
  • May be requested to answer inbound calls to assist members
  • Conducts brief telephonic, clinical assessments to determine appropriate level of care, per Beacon Health Options criteria for medical necessity, and connects employees accordingly.
  • Must be knowledgeable about care resources and levels of care available
  • Coordinates with other Internal Partners to assure that patient comprehensive treatment needs are met
  • Utilizes case consultations with Clinical Management Team and Medical Director for complicated or clinically urgent cases
  • Maintains and inputs data into Care Connect for monthly, quarterly and end of the year reports to meet reporting requirements Maintains confidentiality and ethical and professional standards
  • Applies Beacon Health Options policies and procedures consistently
  • Maintains individual productivity and performance standards
  • Interfaces with external and internal customers to ensure optimal efficiency of services.
  • Trainings and Health Fairs are a component of EAP, which provides education to employees and organizational leaders on a variety of health, wellness, and work/life balance topics.
  • The role of the EAP Counselor is to provide consultation to organizational contacts requesting educational services to obtain details and provide guidance on topics and formats that would best meet their needs. The EAP Counselor provides presentations both in-person or via webinar for the client company.

What you Contribute?

Education:: Minimum of a master’s degree in mental health related discipline or a minimum of an associate’s degree in nursing with related psychiatric nursing experience.

Licensure:Current, valid and unrestricted license in a State or territory of the United States in a mental health field (Ph.D., LCSW, MFT, MHC or LPC). CEAP, SAP and/or SAE credentials preferred.

Work Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years direct practice experience in psychiatric or substance abuse treatment. Experience in settings that include inpatient, partial, and/or outpatient care preferred. Employee Assistance Professional experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with computer based information systems and keyboard skills sufficient to type words per minute
  • Comprehensive understanding of Beacon Health Options Policies & Procedures, Clinical Criteria and Benefit Plan requirements of the account(s) managed.
