Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Test Engineer to join the Test and Assembly team in Philadelphia, PA. The Engineer will become part of Northrop Grumman’s key programs supporting factory test and analysis for one of the Navy’s new technologies.
What You’ll Get to Do: The Engineer functions as a Lead Test Engineer for a rotating machinery test program who will develop solutions for the test programs based on design requirements. The Engineer will test mechanical and electrical systems.
Designs and develops solutions for collecting test data from sensor through to data acquisition system.
Plans and arranges the schedules and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
Leads system level test program and team of test engineers to complete testing per test procedures.
Compiles data, reviews quick look results and provides leadership in analyzing and resolving issues and root causes.
Supports review of data and achievement of test program requirements in meeting test program requirements.
The successful candidate will have experience developing and operating engineering measurement techniques, sensors, data acquisition systems, and data management. Will have experience with electro-mechanical systems assembly, commissioning, operation, and maintenance. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of low voltage electrical and electronics technology including sensor systems, data acquisition systems, control systems, etc. Knowledge of medium voltage commercial electrical technology including transformers, motor controls, facility power distribution, etc. General knowledge and experience with computer networking, configuration, and fundamental applications. Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline plus 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline plus 4 years of relevant experience.
Experience preparing engineering test procedures and conducting engineering test programs.
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
Experience developing and operating engineering measurement techniques, sensors, data acquisition systems, and data management.
Experience with classified programs and supporting ISSM security requirements
Experience with specialized data processing applications such as Matlab, Labview, etc.
Knowledge of rotating machinery technology including motors, generators and turbines.
Knowledge of motor & generator design, control systems, VFDs, excitation systems, etc.
Knowledge of low voltage electrical and electronics technology including sensor systems, data acquisition systems, control systems, etc
