Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Manager in Weapons Systems. The manager will be responsible for the supervision of a subset of the Software Development team in the Armament Systems Embedded Software product area and will report to the senior embedded software engineering manager. Management activities include providing technical oversight of project planning, specification, design, development, and integration of software components of various Armament System programs as well as support of system requirement definition, integration and test. Additional responsibilities include proposal generation, software process leadership, executing performance appraisals, workload planning, staffing allocations, and career goal development. The manager will collaborate with the senior manager to guide the entire team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle in support of programs The candidate should have experience in leading and coordinating a team through challenging software development activities. Strong communication and people leadership skills are vital to this position. This position will be located out of our Plymouth, MN facility.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar engineering degree
Strong understanding of quality system and software requirements and ability to capture clear and concise software requirements
15+ years developing Embedded Software following a structured CMMI appraised process
Experience performing or supporting software qualification test
Experience leading a technical team toward successful product delivery
Management of budgets, schedules, and resources for technical activities
Previous participation in mentoring, interviewing/hiring, workload/staffing discussions and other related management activities
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
Master’s degree in Software Engineering or a similar engineering degree
Prior experience as a functional manager
Experience identifying and tracking team metrics
Understanding of MIL-STD / DOD-STD software processes and document templates
